PYROCY has signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the development of a joint-venture pyrolysis project in southern Spain, marking the platform's first confirmed project development in Western Europe beyond its founding facility in Portugal.
The MOU establishes the framework for a jointly-owned industrial operation structured around PYROCY's proven modular pyrolysis model. The in-country partner brings feedstock access, land, and operational presence on the ground, while PYROCY provides the technology, engineering, project development, and offtake framework — the same structure applied across all PYROCY joint-venture projects.
Spain is a strategically natural first expansion market for PYROCY. Geographically adjacent to Portugal, it operates within the same European regulatory environment — one increasingly shaped by the EU Single-Use Plastics Directive and expanded producer responsibility frameworks that are accelerating demand for advanced plastic waste recovery. The southern Spain location in particular offers strong logistics connectivity and proximity to established industrial and waste management networks.
The MOU follows PYROCY's standard project development process: joint feasibility assessment, feedstock verification, and site evaluation, leading to a full joint-venture agreement and project financing structure. Specific details of the project remain confidential at this stage pending completion of the feasibility phase.
This signing brings PYROCY's active international project pipeline to three confirmed MOUs — Kazakhstan, and now Spain — alongside the second Portugal plant already under contract, all within weeks of the platform's formal launch in September 2025.
