Abu Dhabi, UAE — April 2026
PYROCY has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Portico Energy Inc., a Colorado-based development company, for the joint development of plastic pyrolysis facilities across the United States Southwest.
The MOU establishes an exclusive partnership covering Colorado, Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, and Utah, with the first facility targeted for Pueblo, Colorado. The project will be built around PYROCY's proven modular pyrolysis technology, with each deployment structured as a dedicated special purpose vehicle consistent with PYROCY's standard operating model.
Portico Energy brings deep regional roots and established relationships with municipal, civic, and institutional stakeholders across the Southwest. The partnership's initial focus on Pueblo reflects the city's active support for circular economy and clean industrial initiatives, as well as the availability of suitable sites and a strong local feedstock base.
The Southwest United States represents a significant opportunity for plastic waste valorisation. Across the five-state exclusivity territory, growing volumes of post-consumer plastic and industrial plastic waste remain largely unaddressed by conventional recycling infrastructure — a structural gap that PYROCY's pyrolysis technology is positioned to fill, producing commercial-grade pyrolysis oil for use as an industrial fuel and chemical feedstock.
The partnership follows PYROCY's established model of working with experienced local partners who bring site access, regulatory relationships, and market knowledge, while PYROCY provides the technology, operational expertise, and project development framework. With a live reference plant operating in Portugal since January 2025, prospective partners and stakeholders can assess the technology based on documented operational performance rather than projections.
José Marques, CEO of PYROCY, stated: "The United States is the largest plastic waste market in the world and one of the most underserved by advanced recovery infrastructure. Partnering with a team that has genuine local presence and institutional relationships in the Southwest gives us exactly the foundation we need to build and scale from. Colorado is the starting point — the structure we have agreed gives us a clear pathway to five states."
